I had never worked out when I was a teenager.  Like many teenagers finishing high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.  I aimlessly chose a law and security program since it sounded “ok”.  I remember the day vividly, it was early September, and one of the first physical fitness classes we took.  The instructor said we were going to do an outdoor run BUT, we would “run” as fast as the slowest student.  I was that student.  I was horrified.  I had coasted through my teenage years without breaking a sweat – It had caught up with me.

I took for granted the fast metabolism of youth and as I entered my mid to late 20s and had children, I realized if I wanted to feel healthy and strong, I needed to make changes.  Luckily a friend approached me and asked if I wanted to join an outdoor women’s bootcamp with her.  Did I?  The thought terrified me.  All kinds of things ran through my mind.  What will these other women be like?  Will they be accepting and supportive?  Will people be watching and judging me?  What if I am doing the exercises wrong?   I agreed to go check it out – it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.  All the stress and worries were for nothing.  All those women were more than supportive, and they became friends.  Yes, the first day was the hardest but I persevered, and the second day wasn’t so bad.  Each week I was challenged and realized that because I was challenged, I was becoming stronger and more confident.  It was an amazing community.  That was 12 years ago and while that trainer has moved on to other areas, I am still in contact with her and many of the women that I started this fitness journey with.

I have had a desk job my entire life so I need activity.  While I enjoy helping people in the capacity of my role as a certified Law Clerk, sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day just wasn’t enough.  I needed more and gradually started adding more activities into my daily routine.

I have joined many big chain gyms but personally for me, I prefer smaller boutique gyms.  I love the sense of community and the supportive nature of these gyms.  This is where and when I found that I wanted to help people feel and look their best and the reason I decided to become a Certified Personal Trainer.  Fitness has become such an important part of my life – it is so rewarding, and I truly enjoy it.  My goal is to help you reach your fitness goals.

The hardest part is committing and walking in the door, but once you do, I promise, you will feel strong and empowered each time you finish that workout.
