My name is Amanda and I am the owner of Premium Personal Training & Boot Camps.
Health and fitness has had such a positive impact on my life over the past 15 years that I am here to share my passion for health and fitness with others in hope that I can help change their lives in the same way it has changed mine.
I grew up in a very unhealthy household. I had very poor nutritional habits, I was never put in sports, I hardly exercised, I was around second-hand smoke 24/7. I felt sick all of the time due to my unhealthy lifestyle. I had bad colds every few weeks, very bad allergies, couldn’t focus on anything I did or in school, my immune system was low, I felt negative all of the time because I didn’t feel good. And let’s face it: it is pretty hard to be happy when you don’t feel good internally. I felt tired and run down all of the time due to the unhealthy lifestyle I was living and I was only 16 years old.
I finally decided enough was enough and that I had to take control of my own destiny. It was “MY” choice and I was choosing to look and feel this way.
I started taking baby steps towards a healthier Amanda. I started to do my own research about nutrition and what to eat. I cleaned up my diet by starting to eat lean protein, vegetables, and healthy fats. I instantly started to feel better. You truly are what you eat. It was amazing. Once I conquered the nutrition, I decided to start exercising which I had a huge fear of, The fear of working out I front of others, the fear of not knowing what I was doing, the fear of men watching me work out. I went into the gym to inquire about a membership and ended up joining a local gym. I was working out for several months and it felt amazing. I was lifting weights and doing cardio 3-4 days/week. I then decided to hire a personal trainer to assist me with reaching my goals further and to prep me for the firefighter fitness test at York University. I had a Personal Trainer for 1 year and this is when I found my true love for health and fitness.
I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry in 2007. I registered for Can Fit Pros Personal Trainer Specialist Program and became a Certified Personal Trainer. This was my entry-level position in order to do what I love and help clients reach their health and fitness goals.
Over the past 13 years, I have completed several certification courses. I specialize in strength & conditioning, Bootcamp and group training, nutrition counseling, injury recognition, and rehabilitation and I am Pre & Post Natal Certified.
I have worked for a few gyms over the past 13 years until May of 2014 when I decided to open my own Personal Training and Boot Camp Studio.
I started off working from home, training clients in a basement gym and I was running Boot Camp all spring and summer in parks outside. After about 6 months, I was able to get a larger space and opened up my own private studio in Newmarket.
I am so grateful to have a career that I love so much. I love training all of my clients, we become like a family here. We get to know one another while I am whipping their butts in shape 😉
