At 38 years old, I was in great shape. I was confident in my body, and I enjoyed working out regularly. By the time I was 43 years old, more “life” had happened. And in what seemed to be “just like that” I found myself in chronic pain, overweight, really disliking my wardrobe options (especially in summer), and ready for a change.
I joined the gym. No problem, I thought, surely the hardest part was finding the gym I wanted to join. I’d been fit my whole life, and I could be there again in no time. Funny thing happened. I did not lose a single pound for a whole year; not a pound, not even a random fluctuation. No change. NOTHING! A YEAR!
I had committed myself to losing weight, I was dedicated, I was working hard, and nothing was happening. I was DESPERATE to know why. I read, researched and experimented with every piece of information I found. There was an overwhelming flood of misguided, well marketed and ineffective information to endure before I learned how to sustainably own the body I desired. Ultimately, I lost the body fat and became even more fit than I had been in my 20s. By then, there was no stopping me; I became a certified Health and Fitness Coach. I am older now, I feel amazing, and I’ve learned a lot from my own as well as my professional experience.
I know from personal experience that striving to create that healthy body of your dreams can feel confusing, frustrating and fraught with self-doubt. What I have also learned is that the effort was worth it! Once I had discovered what worked and let go of what didn’t, I no longer cared about that year of “nothing!” I’m having way too much fun living in
my present, feeling young, strong and vibrant! I would like for you too, to imagine replacing those feelings with energy, strength, confidence, ease, knowledge, satisfaction, and anything else you would rather feel.
Imagine yourself living in your dream body. There will be some effort some learning and some and some changes but I can say that it is one of the most worthwhile rewarding things you can do for yourself.

My professional experience in the Health and Fitness Industry is the result of a decision I made to create my second career from my first love. In fact, as I recall my exact words at the time were: “I never want to work again, unless it’s something I love!” Looking back on it now, it seems that from the moment of that exclamation, my chosen career was finally born. Being active and full of life was always what I loved most and now I’m fortunate to be able to do what I love for a living.
I have been helping clients achieve their health and fitness goals since 2006. During this time I came to know three crucial insights that helped shape the direction I took with my practice and with my continuing education.
The first insight I learned working with clients is that we needed to use a holistic approach to achieve our goals. When we look at our health and fitness, everything is interconnected: sleep, food, exercise, flexibility, strength, endurance, mobility, coordination, agility, muscle mass, stress levels, hormones, digestion, blood sugar, adrenal health, immune system, energy levels, irritating symptoms, how we feel, mind, mood, our environment and our resilience. So a health and fitness program needed to address the whole person for them to get their best results.
The second insight I learned was that because information alone isn’t really transformational without the implementation piece, things worked best when my clients and I collaborated on the practical application of their health and fitness programs. It wasn’t the “knowing” alone, it was also the “doing” and being a team on the “how”. By putting the information into practical application my clients made changes that became a part of their everyday lives and that’s where the magic is….life changing (in some cases life saving) transformations!
The third insight that was becoming more and more apparent in my experience was something called Bio-individuality. In other words “one size fits all” recommendations and programs only got us so far….. and then we needed to custom fit programs and find the blueprint that worked best for each individual person and their unique profile.
Nutrition + Fitness + Lifestyle Strategies + Bio-individuality = Holistic Approach = Optimal Sustainable Results.
